Akebono scales are enharmonic equivalents of the sixth musical mode of a Major Scale (Aeolian mode or Natural Minor). These pentatonic scales have been used in traditional Japanese music and naturally create an exotic flow into your music with the scale degrees 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 of the Aeolian mode.
A typical Pygmy scale is an enharmonic equivalent of the sixth musical mode (Dorian Mode). Originating in African culture these are pentatonic scales having the arrangement Root - Maj 2nd - Min 3rd - 5th - Min 7th. Use of the Pygmy scale has grown hugely in popularity since the invention of the Hang by PANArt in Switzerland.
